Denny Duquette – Grey’s Anatomy

 

I don’t follow this show like the rest of the world does but I will admit that the first season is a near perfect medical drama. Emphasis on the drama. Denny was a heart transplant patient and love interest of Izzie, a doctor at the hospital. First they lined up the romance with an English Patient vibe and then ripped our hearts out with his death. Seriously, this was fucked up. She lies next to his dead body, wearing a ball gown and then as she breaks down emotionally, Alex Karev scoops her up into his arms and carries her out as Chasing Cars plays in the background.

Ben Sullivan – Scrubs

Brendan Frazier played the part of Ben Sullivan, the only human being that Dr. Cox truly loves, his best friend. Throughout this episode, Ben visits Cox and “guides” him through some of his emotions. Turns out that Ben was never actually there; Dr. Cox created him in his head to help him get through the day leading up to Ben’s funeral.

Alex Whitman – Roswell

Alex was everyone’s favourite character. He was Pacey Witter, Stiles and Seth Cohen all rolled into one. I cannot put into words how incredibly sad his death was for all Roswell fans. We even, for a moment, thought that Max would be able to use his alien powers to bring Alex back to life. Fans mourned his death long after the show was cancelled.

I couldn’t find a clip of the actual death scene, so you guys will have to watch this fan-made tribute video instead.

Winifred “Fred” Burkle – Angel

This shocked audiences. Just when we were treated to Fred and Wesley finally becoming a couple, Joss Whedon kills her in the most unexpected way, while she’s singing You Are My Sunshine to her boyfriend. She collapses into Wesley’s arms, dies in his arms, gets resurrected as demi-God only to die in his arms again in the final season.

Doyle – Angel

 

Seriously, fuck you Joss Whedon!

This was sick. He didn’t even make it through the first season. Just as you start to fall in love with Doyle, just as Cordelia falls in love with Doyle, Joss Whedon kills him off. It was a beautifully heroic death and he kissed the girl just before he died. The tearjerker really comes at the end when Cordy watches a video she had recorded with Doyle the morning before his death.
