Badasses! We all love them for all their badassery. They’re the ones that are kicking ass and taking names all damn day. There have been a host of badasses that have graced the silver screen over the years. The likes of John Rambo, The T-800, Dutch Schaeffer, Riggs and Murtaugh, and John McClane will forever be ingrained in our minds for some of the greatest displays of badassery the world has ever seen!
A badass is someone that is, well, badass. Often action heroes, these are characters that know how to open a can of whoopass, but can also dish out the pain too. These are professionals who are proficient at what they do and they execute it in the coolest manner.
So lets dial it back and have a look at some of the biggest badasses of the 2010’s. It’s a whole new generation of filmgoers and it needs its ass kickers to show the newer generation how its done. So here are my top five Badasses from 2010 until present.
Hit Girl (played by Chloë Grace Moretz)
Kick-Ass (2010)

Hit Girl stole the show in 2010’s Kick Ass (The sequel really sucked). After some of the most intense training by Nicholas Cage, in what was probably his last good performance. I mean seriously…he shot her…in the chest…c’mon! From the moment she hits the screen, she slaughters gangsters and evildoers by the dozens. Seriously, this 11-year-old girl kills these people in bat-shit crazy fashion! It’s fucking awesome!
On a side note though, Nic Cage has the most badass scene in the entire film.
Badass Moment: The Corridor
Rama (played by Iko Uwais)
The Raid: Redemption (2011) and The Raid 2 (2014)

This one is for all the martial arts junkies. The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2 are two of the best martial arts films of the last decade. Rama is the most hardcore motherfucker I have seen in years! This dude takes on every possible criminal element while dishing out some of the most brutal beatdowns your eyes will ever witness on screen. There is no fear in this man’s heart! This dude does not give a single flying fuck. He will beat the ever-living shit out of anyone that stands in his way.
Badass Moment: Showdown with Mad Dog
The Driver (played by Ryan Gosling)
Drive (2012)

The unnamed protagonist of one of my favourite films of all time! This dude is just too cool. He never cracks under pressure and never fails at the task at hand. But, deep under the calm, collected façade is an unrivaled brutality. There is a beautiful binary of the most slick driving sequences and the raw strength that he posseses. He is unrelenting in stopping those that threaten those he cares for. Drive kinda made me love Gosling…
Badass Moment: Bite the bullet
John Wick (played by Keanu Reeves)
John Wick (2014)

KEANU!!! This dude is so badass that the main antagonist gives up before any shit goes down. I have never seen this many headshots from any action hero in my life! With ice coursing through his veins, he cuts his way through the Russian mob like a hot knife through butter. I’m pretty sure he’s death incarnate. You would never want to cross this dude the wrong way!
Badass Moment: The whole damn movie!
Furiosa (played by Charlize Theron)
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

It’s so refreshing to see women kicking ass. Furiosa was so fucking amazing that I’m pretty sure you could take Max out of the film and it would still be fucking epic. She proves that you can kick ass and have emotional depth. We see her at some of her lowest points but when it comes down to it this woman doesn’t fuck around. I’m pretty sure she saved Max more times than he saved her. Who’s the damsel now…
Badass Moment: The final chase
