Boyz ‘N The Hood, re-envisioned by Mel Gibson with an all-white cast. Coming soon to a hood near you in 2018.
Hollywood has been known to whitewash iconic characters from history, taking away the opportunity for people of colour to play these roles. Films like the Ghost In The Shell, rumours of the live action Mulan and the Rumi film starring Leonardo Dicaprio, are causing people of colour to protest on social media and threatening to boycott films if producers don’t give the roles to actors who should be playing them.
Now old Mel has brought us his vision for a 2018 re-envisioned Boyz ‘N The Hood. Set in South Boston with an all-white cast, giving The Biebs his first starring role in a big Hollywood feature. The only way to explain something so ridiculous (and scary) is that it must be April Fools Day.
