F9 (2021) – “F is for FLASHBACK”

Dom Toretto is living the quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, but they know that danger always lurks just over the peaceful horizon.

This time, that threat forces Dom to confront the sins of his past to save those he loves most. His crew soon comes together to stop a world-shattering plot by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered — Dom’s forsaken brother.

Review

“The Chairman” – This isn’t a surprise to anyone in the Big Screen Hooligans community that I hate this franchise, but one thing I have never accused this monstrous franchise of being is BORING. F9 for all its flash and stretching of scientific logic is easily the most uninspiring & tedious instalment in the series.

I raised serious questions prior to viewing the movie about the “lost brother” plot, which given Dom Toretto’s meme-level fixation on family, defies all reason. And after actually watching the movie the reasoning (primarily through the use of FLASHBACKS, so many damn FLASHBACKS) used for not seeing this brother played by John Cena is so unbelievable it made me check if I had been dragged into Marvel’s new Multiverse storyline.

This may be seen as a spoiler, but at this point I really couldn’t be bothered, but there is a trope that Roman (Tyrese Gibson) is the voice of the audience loudly exclaiming the questions we may have like “HOW ARE WE STILL ALIVE?!” (a direct quote from the movie).

The scriptwriter clearly thought the were doing something really meta but when the series isn’t really known for pushing the intellectual boundaries it comes off as mocking the people who find F&F somewhat entertaining.

I am not even going to address the other obviously stupid things in the movie. If I do you may want to see this on the big screen just out of curiosity. DON’T! Wait till it’s on the small screen. It’s BAD, dumpster fire bad. 1/10

Oh, Han is back (eye roll). As a response to #JusticeforHan. WHO GIVES A SHIT!

Remember to be safe out there, wear your mask and get vaccinated to protect everyone around you.
