C&J (Guest Reviewer) – With a title like Polite Society, you’d expect a gentleman’s round of applause at the end of movie, but with this movie, you more likely to say words not accepted by society and definitely not being polite.

Polite Society feels like a mismatch of all the genres squashed into one movie while ticking off all the politically correct boxes. Diverse cast, diversity of religion, strong female lead and cast, it’s all there. What’s not there is a good movie plot or story. Is it an all out action movie? No. Is it an all out Bollywood type movie? No. Is it an all out detective type movie with good acting? No. It’s a movie with a little bit of everything, which feels pieced together and really doesn’t work.

Had the directors gone with incredibly over the top fighting like the old school kung-fu movies, maybe they could’ve salvaged some sort of decency but alas, you left with a movie that leaves you wanting better and wanting more.

This movie feels like a few drunk college students came up with an idea for movie and were given funding from one of their dads to make the movie. I don’t know if you’ve picked up on this underlying theme yet but this movie is wow…Not the wow that you say to yourself when seeing something majestic, but rather a dumbstruck wow when you see something so idiotically terrible that someone just did.

So, if you have 2 hours of your life to waste, and you can afford to waste it watching a terrible movie, we’d definitely recommend watching something else, because this movie will leave you questioning life and asking, why did I just do this? 2/10
