Review
Chad (Guest) – In terms of the animations, visual effects and overall cinematography, the producers did an outstanding job of depicting the dynamic landscape and canvas as the backdrop for an intriguing storyline.
Whilst the narrative and dialogue was thin and limited at times, the writers were creative in the way the story was delivered and found a way to blend familiar nostalgic traits (that worked really well in other movies in the Lion King saga) with a fresh approach and layered the storyline nicely, further broadening and contributing to the compelling tale we know and love.
The movie caters to all types of audiences, combining a fresh musical score with incredible sound effects and breathtaking imagery. We were reintroduced to familiar characters who were also given a lot more scope and license to shine in the best possible way, headlined by Rafiki, but were ably supported by new foes, adding another dimension to the story’s foundational ethical and morale dilemmas.
Some purists who remain tied to the original music and picture might frown at some of the risks taken but overall it was fun to watch, kept engaging the audience and found a way to intertwine elements of predictability with a few exciting new twists and turns in a well thought-out and contemporary style, opening the door, potentially, for another chapter with more to look forward to in the future. 7.5/10
