Review
“The Chairman” – The day has arrived as we reach the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But in order for us to care about her we have Marvel Cinematic machine do her magic on her origin story and after we left the screening the movie was described as “paint-by-numbers” by a few attendees, and my response to that is “it may be paint-by-number, but if Picasso is doing the painting and can you really complain?”.
There is so much pressure on this movie being the first female lead MCU movie, which of course will upset a few fools. At no point in the movie did I see Brie Larson as a strong female lead, I just saw a strong lead, her gender isn’t her driving force pushing the movie forward. She is treated throughout as a soldier by both the Kree and Humans. If I say anything more I will spoil the movie.
But, should you go see it? Yes for a couple of reasons; 1. It is vital to the Endgame story and a building block of the MCU and; 2. It is a good movie, not great just a good solid movie. I have never heard so many complaints about a movie that is actually good, I never expected anything ground-breaking, the universe that is around this movie acts as a constraint on taking risks. GO SEE IT! 7.5/10
